The indictment of Rep. Wright doesn’t seem to be enough corruption for the NC Black Caucus in the General Assembly as now another of it’s members has been accused of misuse of funds. Fayetteville Democrat Mary McAllister has apparently misused the computers of her non-profit organization to engage in work for her reelection campaign this fall. It is noteworthy that the state board of elections fined McAllister $15,000 in the past for improper payments to herself from her campaign fund. State Auditor Les Merritt is to be commended for his hard work in exposing corruption in our state government from Jim Black, Rep. Wright, and now Rep. McAllister. She attempted to block the probe by refusing to turn over the computers and now we know why. Another sad story on the state of our government in Raleigh.
