Latest CofCC LTE over Orangeburg monument

CofCC Board Member Kyle Roger got a second letter to the editor published in the Orangeburg, SC newspaper

LTE Published in Orangeburg Times and Democrat…

T&D Staff Writer Gene Zaleski wrote about me in his March 21 and March 29 articles concerning the Confederate monument at John C. Calhoun and Russell Street. Some of his information is incorrect.

Kevin Gantt, S.C. Department of Transportation project manager for the proposed improvement plan, says the Lower Savannah Council of Governments picked the intersection. The proposed project was then approved by Orangeburg City Council. The March 21st article implies that SCDOT picked the site. SCDOT only drew up the plans for the proposed project that was sent to them.

The story misrepresents the comments I made. I told the reporter that I was not familiar with the Orangeburg Historical Society and could only speculate on its motives.

I also never alleged an NAACP conspiracy. I simply pointed out that the LSCOG chairwoman was an NAACP member. Bernard Haire, mayor pro tempore of Orangeburg City Council, is a major NAACP supporter. The NAACP has waged a 20-year campaign against Confederate monuments and the Maurice Bessinger BBQ chain. Factor in that SCDOT says there are only 10 accidents a year at the intersection and it does not even have a stop sign yet. It seems extremely likely that the intersection was picked because of political and racial bias, not safety concerns.

The reporter and the newspapers also appear completely unaware that South Carolina state law prevents any government entity from altering the monument without the approval of the local Sons of Confederate Veterans chapter that holds the deed to the site.

CofCC activism pays off in Orangeburg County

A letter to the editor from a CofCC member caused a Orangeburg County Council member to go on the defensive. Note: She claims the committee she chairs did not pick the site. According to the SCDOT project manager, her committee did pick the site. The SCDOT had nothing to do with selecting the site, their job was just to draw up plans.

From Orangeburg Times & Democrat…

A letter to the editor insinuating the NAACP is behind planned intersection improvements near Edisto Memorial Gardens is “full of lies,” Orangeburg County Councilwoman Janie Cooper says.

“The NAACP knew nothing about it,” Cooper said during council’s Monday night meeting.

The S.C. Department of Transportation wants to change the intersection of John C. Calhoun Drive and Russell Street to add a full stop. The department says the change will make the intersection safer by removing the need for Russell Street traffic to merge onto John C. Calhoun Drive at an angle.

The project has drawn the opposition of some who say it would lead to the removal of a Confederate monument marking where Union Gen. William Tecumseh Sherman crossed the Edisto River.

Speaking during council’s Monday meeting, Orangeburg resident Abe Salama brought up the March 11 letter to the editor submitted by Kyle Rogers of Summerville. Rogers says he’s a national board member of the Council of Conservative Citizens.

Cooper is chairman of the Lower Savannah Council of Governments board of directors, the agency responsible for funding the project. Rogers noted that Cooper and other members of County Council are members of the NAACP.

Cooper said she is a member, and “I am sure that if you are the color of black you will join the NAACP for what it stands for.”

Intersection plan attacks Confederate symbols

A proposed construction project at the corner John C. Calhoun Drive and Russell Street in Orangeburg has put a Confederate monument and a Maurice Bessinger’s BBQ in danger.

Both of the properties in danger are the targets of a 20-year-old campaign by the NAACP and other black racial groups to eradicate symbols of the Confederacy. More recently the NAACP has expanded its efforts and now opposes Confederate symbols in cemeteries and even museums.

The selection of the intersection is allegedly based on safety concerns.

However, the S.C. Department of Transportation says there are only an average of 10 rear-end collisions per year at the intersection. There is also no traffic light at the intersection, only a stop sign. A simple traffic light would solve safety concerns. Patrick Hall, a senior transportation planner at the Atlanta Regional Commission, says he believes the project is not justified.

The project is a political and racially motivated attack on symbols of the Confederacy. The intersection was picked by the Orangeburg board of directors of the Lower Savannah Council of Governments. The chairman of this board is Orangeburg County Council member Janie Cooper, a major supporter of the Orangeburg NAACP. Other members are also Orangeburg County Council members. The chairman of the Orangeburg County Council is also an NAACP member. County Council has even passed pro-NAACP resolutions.

Next in the “checks and balances” process was Orangeburg City Council, which includes several supporters, and at least one member, of the NAACP.

I think this project was clearly routed in politics and racial animosity, not safety.

— Kyle Rogers, National Board Member, Council of Conservative Citizens

NC CofCC Meeting September 12, 2009

I hope that all patriots will mark down Saturday September 12 as a day to attend the latest North Carolina Council of Conservative Citizens meeting at the Prime Sirloin Steakhouse in Yadkinville, NC. Attendees will have the pleasure of hearing former Special Operations survival instructor Roger Pennington and Army veteran/film writer Merlin Miller. These fine gentlemen will give a wonderful talk about issues confronting the country today. The meeting will begin at 11:30 in the morning.

The last nine months have shown us what a disasterous choice the nation made last November. Unfortunately no one has picked up the banner of true and unwavering opposition to Hussein Obama, except for the Council of Conservative Citizens. Our members toured the country warning people of what was to come, and were proven right. I hope that anyone interested in rescuing this country will be there in Yadkinville.

Join Crusade for HB 849: Stand up for North Carolina!

Ever since the 1950′s the true patriots of America know that it is judicial activism and the usurpation of states rights that has led this country down the slippery slope towards totalitarianism.  Ever since the horrors of 1957 and 1962 when the will of the federal government was carried out in Little Rock and at Ole Miss at the point of bayonet, we know that we must restore our Constitution and states rights to take back our society.  While bills to this effect our not the endgame, they do rally and educate true patriots to the cancer that is slowly strangling America.

We have already seen how one state standing up can make a difference thanks to the Governor of South Carolina.  He is not perfect as he has been derelict on the Confederate flag and Southern heritage, but he is right on resisting Obama’s stimulus.  It is time to build on that momentum by reasserting our state’s rights under the 10th Amendment of the Constitution.  I urge all our members to demand that their representatives support HB 489 which proclaims our state’s sovereignty.  This can help educate people to resist other unconstitutional mandates such as those in the Voting Rights Act and other travesties enacted by the Supreme Court.  If you have any questions please contact me at hufflth@aol.com

NAACP Marxists Demanding Reparations for 1898 Wilmington Incident

By:  The Unreconstructed Southerner

If one excuse for reparations won’t do then make up another seems to be the motto of the NAACP.  After Tony Rand, the leftist Democrats, and cowardly Republicans in the state legislature voted to apologize for slavery now the NAACP is demanding reparations based on events that didn’t even occur.  As documented by NC League of the South Chairman Bernie Thuesermam and REAL historians, the 1898 incident was no race riot or violent coup.  After a radical black nationalist newspaper editor defamed the honor of Southern womanhood in his pages the white citizens of Wilmington went to shut his newspaper down.  They were fired upon and a minor firefight ensued and the newspaper’s headquarters was burnt down.  THAT’S IT!!

There was no violent rampage of whites against blacks after the initial firefight except in the imaginations of the NAACP and convicted felon Thomas Wright, who authored the false report claiming a race riot.  Seeing dollar signs the NAACP are now marching around the state in the leadup to their conference where “Reverend” Barber will demand we pony up, N&O “columnist” Barry Sanders will shout AMEN, and thethe gathering will close with a prayer to Lord and Savior Obama.  This my friends is something that can’t and must not be ignored or scoffed at.  History shows that they can succeed at this garbage.  I urge everyone to call their state Represenatives and Senators and demand to know where they stand.  If they are for even a penny going to this nonsense then we must oppose them with our voices and votes this November.  Bev Perdue will also probably support this garbage of a cause so a vote for her is a vote  for reparations.  Let us keep the faith as we age this struggle that must be fought.

The NC CofCC Mourns Jesse Helms. RIP 1921-2008

It is entirely fitting that Jesse Helms went home to his Maker on Independence Day.  Few public servants have so dedicated themselves to the service of their country with the selfless dignity of Senator No.  Our state has not had a servant like him before and will unlikely have such a man to represent us again.  We are all the less for it.

It is hard to imagine that one soul from once small town Monroe could roil American politics like Jesse did.  It becomes even more difficult to imagine that the world is vastly changed thanks to his actions.  Had it not been for the efforts of Helms and the Congressional Club, Ronald Reagan would have been relegated to historical footnote.  In 1976, then Governor Reagan had challenged Gerald Ford for the Republican presidential and had suffered 5 straight defeats in a row.  On the ropes the Reagan campaign turned to Helms for a comeback miracle.  On March 23, 1976 Helms delivered and allowed Reagan to go on to become president four years later.  The Reagan Revolution that changed America and won the Cold War owed it all to the kid from Monroe.

While being involved in every aspect of American political life, the Senator and his staff always came through for North Carolina.  While Jesse Helms was on Capitol Hill we saw very few military installations shuttered in this state.  Textile, furniture, and other manufacturing workers didn’t have to worry about their senator voting for trade deals like NAFTA or CAFTA, unlike today.  Perhaps most revealing of Helm’s dedication, no constituent concern was too big or small as many people who took time to write the Senator saw their letters personally answered, and not in a canned form letter.  Despite being a leading crusader on so many issues Jesse Helms cared enough to take the time to answer the people, something not seen often enough today.  It is a style that Senator’s Dole and Burr as well as Congressman McHenry would be well served to emulate.

It is hard for those outside North Carolina to understand how we could elect Jesse Helms and send him to Washington for 30 years.  Given his strong Christian faith, his ability to tell it like it is, and his tenacity in the face of adversity, I believe Jesse Helms represented the best the Tarheel state had to offer.  Whether you agreed or disagreed, everyone from Manteo to Murphy knew where Jesse Helms stood.  We never had to look at past statements or stances to search for flip flops for political expediency.  Helms was the same man in 2002 upon retirement as he was when he arrived on Capitol Hill in 1973.  There is simply no better compliment for a public servant then that they have remained as true to oneself as Jesse Helms did.  It is our greatest misfortune that we shall probably never see the like of Jesse Helms again on Capitol Hill to keep everyone straight, and never back down from what they know is right.

In 1826 on the fiftieth anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, former presidents John Adams and Thomas Jefferson passed away.  The symbolism of these two political giants passing on that day was overwhelming for the Republic they helped give birth to.  It was just as symbolic to see Jesse Helms’ 86 year journey that began in Monroe end on the birthday of the nation he loved so much.  It can be said that North Carolina’s loss is Heaven’s gain as it now has the best legislator one could ask for.

Al Sharpton Coming to Charlotte

By: The Unreconstructed Southerner

What they couldn’t steal at the election booth the fans of Nick Mackey are attempting to gain by intimidation. On January 31 at 7 pm demonstrators are expecting to gather at St. Paul’s Baptist with speakers from the local and national NAACP and Mr. rabble rouser himself Al Sharpton. Just as he did in Durham with the Duke Lacrosse Case, Sharpton is planning to inject himself into a community dispute that will only inflame tensions already rising on account of the corrupt manner of Mackey’s campaign. Now one can only wish that enough folks would be able to gather to drown out the noise sure to be heard from the demonstrators mad because Nick Mackey got caught cheating. Well enough is enough and I just hope the good people of Charlotte and the Mecklenburg County Commissioners ignore the mob and confirm Chip Bailey as the rightful sheriff.
