It just doesn’t quit getting worse as former Clinton chief of staff and president of the UNC system, Erskine Bowles, is now debating granting instate college tuition to illegal aliens. How in the world do people come up with such logic? Illegal aliens are criminals that ought to be deported now admitted at a rate that puts our fellow citizens from other states at a disadvantage. Mr. Bowles qualifies his logic by stating “”We are in a knowledge-based, global economy. We need a highly trained, highly educated work force. (Hispanics are) the fastest growing segment of our work force,” he said. “If we don’t do something we’re going to create another permanent underclass that will be a drain on society instead of being productive members of the community.” Someone might do well to point out to Mr. Bowles that Hispanics are already a drag on schools and fail at a rate that rivals blacks. Let’s send them a message and tell Erskine Bowles that illegal means illegal and they have no place in our state.
